Taylor McFarland was hired as the Assistant Athletic Director on October 1, 2012. Taylor will play a vital role in game management, community relations and marketing. He brings a variety of experience to Kansas Wesleyan, most recently working as the Assistant Athletic Director at Westminster College in Salt Lake City, Utah.
At Westminster, McFarland was in charge of marketing, promotions, ticket operations, and was a game administrator. He was a crucial leader and successful at promoting and representing the department’s brand. Before Westminster, he served as an Assistant Athletic Director Intern at Tabor College in Hillsboro, Kan., and Ticket Sales Associate for Wichita State University Athletics while working toward completion of his master’s degree from Wichita State. He has also worked as a sales executive and a high school basketball coach.
Taylor graduated in 2011 with a Master of Education degree in Sport Management from Wichita State University. Taylor holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Physical Education Teaching and Coaching from Weber State University and a Bachelor of Arts degree in Communication and a Minor in Sports Coaching from the University of California-Santa Barbara.
McFarland is a native of Granite Bay, California and graduated from Granite Bay High School. He participated in several sports, earning several team and individual honors. He was recruited to play college baseball and had a short stint with American River College (Calif.) before arm injuries hampered his career. Taylor then focused on academics and coaching high school basketball.
He is married to the former Lindsay Peterson and they have a two year old son named Gavin. His brother and father played college football and his grandfather was a minor league baseball player with the Reds organization.
