Daryl Hoelting has been the head softball coach at Kansas Wesleyan since 2010.

"It is my goal to build a program that everyone can take pride in… not only the players, but the coaches, the University and the entire Salina community," Hoelting said.

Before Kansas Welseyan, Hoelting was most recently Head Softball Coach at Sacred Heart High School in Salina, Kan., where he coached for three seasons from 2005 - 2007, compiling an impressive 70-1 overall record and leading the Knights to the Kansas Class 2A State Championship in 2005 and the Class 3A State Championships in 2006 and 2007. He also led the Knights to 68 straight wins before retiring after the 2007 season, setting a new Kansas state record. The streak ended in the 2008 season at 72 games. He was named the 2007 Kansas Coaches' Association and National High School

Coaches' Association Midwest Regional Coach of the Year.

Before Sacred Heart, Hoelting spent 13 seasons at Salina South High School where he compiled a 265-36 overall record. He led the Cougars to two Kansas Class 5A State Championships in 1995 and 2003 and four 5A State Runner-up finishes in 1996, 1998, 2000 and 2002. His teams also won 11 I-70 League Championships, including a string of nine straight from 1992 to 2000; and 10 regional championships including a streak of eight straight from 1993 to 2000. At Salina South he had a 40-game winning streak.

While at South, he was named the 2000 Kansas Coaches Association Softball Coach of the Year and was the 2001 National High School Coaches' Association Section 5 (Midwest) Regional Coach of the Year.

Hoelting says that his teams will be high-energy groups with smart, fundamentally sound players.
"I am looking for student-athletes who are not only great players on the field, but excel in the classroom as well. It's very important to me to have coachable and disciplined student-athletes in my program," Hoelting said. "My teams will be filled with aggressive, high-energy players who know the game and are focused and are also fundamentally sound on the field."

Hoelting has also held coaching appointments at Marymount College in Salina, Kan., where he was head baseball coach and women's basketball coach, where he earned Kansas Basketball Coaches Association Women's College Coach of the Year honors in 1987.

Hoelting, a native of Olpe, Kan., holds an Associate of Arts Degree from Neosho County Community College, and a Bachelor of Science degree from Marymount College. He resides in Salina with his wife Kim and has three children: Kyle, Tracy and David.
