Senior running back Taylor Sachs has earned a spot on the 2014 Preseason All-KCAC Football Team presented by AstroTurf as announced by the conference on Wednesday afternoon. The team, chosen by KCAC Head Football Coaches, is made up of 21 seniors, six juniors, and two sophomores. Of the 29 athletes listed, 11 are from Kansas, eight are from Texas, and six are from California.

Sachs, a native of Georgetown, Texas, had a breakout season in 2013, rushing for 1588 yards on 315 carries with 11 touchdowns. He averaged 144.4 yards rushing per game which ranked second in the KCAC last season through the end of the regular season, but Sachs would end the season leading the conference in rushing per game and was fourth in the NAIA in rushing per game. His yardage total was second best in the conference and the fourth best on record at Kansas Wesleyan for a single season.


"The Coyote family is excited to see Taylor receive this well-deserved award," KWU Coach Matt Drinkall said. "He is coming off an outstanding junior campaign and has been tirelessly preparing for his senior season."


Antonio Bray (RB/KR, Sterling) and Deron Bruce (DE, Ottawa) highlight the 2014 Preseason All-KCAC Football Team.


Bray, a senior from Van Nuys, California, ranked first in NAIA All-Purpose Yards at the end of the 2013. His 2,352 All-Purpose Yards place him second all-time in KCAC single season history. Bray recorded 23 Kick Returns for 820 Yards and three Touchdowns, 12 Punt Returns for 172 Yards, 124 Rushing Attempts for 881 Yards and 12 Touchdowns, and 25 Receptions for 479 Yards and five Touchdowns last season. Bray was selected KCAC Special Teams Player of the Year and First Team All American by the AFCA.


Bruce, an Olathe, Kansas native ranked first in NAIA Tackles for Loss (28.5) and second in Tackles for Loss per Game (2.4) last season. He was fifth, nationally, in Sacks (13) and Sacks per Game (1.1). Bruce's 13 Sacks in 2013 place him seventh all time in KCAC single season history. He totaled 101 Tackles (68 unassisted), six Forced Fumbles, and four Fumble Recoveries in 2013.Bruce was selected KCAC Defensive Player of the Year and Second Team All American by the AFCA.


All returning first and second 2013 ALL-KCAC performers were nominated for preseason honors. Head Football Coaches also had the opportunity to nominate other key players from their teams. Members of the team selected unanimously by coaches were: Antonio Bray (RB/KR, Sterling), Luke Lundy (RB, Ottawa), Jess Croley (OL, Tabor), Josh Stangby (KR, Ottawa), Paul Mata (LB, Southwestern), and Sequente Marks (DB, Friends).


The coaches and media Preseason KCAC Polls will be released on Wednesday, August 6th, directly following the annual KCAC Football Media Day to be conducted in Wichita, Kansas at the Courtyard Wichita at Old Town. KCAC Media Days are sponsored by IMA, Inc. Live audio and video, including press conferences and one-on-one interviews, will be featured on the KCAC Digital Network. Kansas Wesleyan will open the 2014 season on September 6 at home against Hastings (Neb.) College.
