TOWSON, Md. – The 2013 Capital One Academic All-America® College Division men's and women's at-large teams, as selected by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) have been announced and Kansas Wesleyan's Chelsie Gausman was named to the women's second team.
Gausman graduated last month with a degree in Business Management, and has been named to the President's Honor Roll every semester at Kansas Wesleyan. She had an average 2-round score of 168.36 this season and an average single round score of 84.18. She finished tied for sixth at the NAIA Unaffiliated Grouping Tournament last month that featured teams from the KCAC and the Red River Conference. She was also named as a Daktronics-NAIA Scholar Athlete last month.
The Capital One College Division Academic All-America® men's and women's at-large teams are comprised of student-athletes from NAIA, Canadian and two-year institutions. The at-large team for the Capital One Academic All-America® program includes the sports of fencing, golf, gymnastics, ice hockey, lacrosse, rifle, skiing, swimming and diving, tennis, water polo for both men and women; bowling, crew and field hockey for women; and volleyball and wrestling for men.
Nominated by current CoSIDA members at their respective institutions, nominees to the Capital One CoSIDA Academic All-America® program must be a starter or important reserve with at least a 3.3 GPA (on a 4.0 scale) and must have attended their current institution for at least one full academic year and have reached sophomore athletic eligibility status.
