TOWSON, Md. – The 2013 Capital One Academic All-America® College Division men's and women's at-large teams, as selected by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) have been announced and Kansas Wesleyan's Adam Watson was selected to the Third Team.
Watson, a senior from Junction City, Kan., was selected as an Academic All-District honoree last month. He carried a 7-7 overall singles record and a 3-4 mark in conference play and was 2-11 overall in doubles and 0-7 in conference play. He played four years for the Coyotes, carrying the highest GPA on the men's tennis team this year. He was named to the President's Honor Roll six times and the Dean's Honor Roll once while completing a double major in Computer Information Systems and Computer Science. He was a two-time Daktronics-NAIA Scholar Athlete and will earn Academic All-KCAC honors as well.
The Capital One College Division Academic All-America® men's and women's at-large teams are comprised of student-athletes from NAIA, Canadian and two-year institutions. The at-large team for the Capital One Academic All-America® program includes the sports of fencing, golf, gymnastics, ice hockey, lacrosse, rifle, skiing, swimming and diving, tennis, water polo for both men and women; bowling, crew and field hockey for women; and volleyball and wrestling for men.
Nominated by current CoSIDA members at their respective institutions, nominees to the Capital One CoSIDA Academic All-America® program must be a starter or important reserve with at least a 3.3 GPA (on a 4.0 scale) and must have attended their current institution for at least one full academic year and have reached sophomore athletic eligibility status.
