Kansas Wesleyan's Janel Prather was named as the KCAC Women's Tennis Player of the Week for her efforts for the Coyotes last week.
Prather, a junior from Sterling, Kan., helped the Coyotes to three wins on the courts last week, extending Wesleyan's winning streak to four matches.
On Wednesday against Hesston, Prather combined with Tia Irwin to with 8-3 in doubles play and then won in straight sets in singles play 7-6 and 6-0. On Friday against Hastings College, Prather against teamed up with Irwin to win 8-1 in doubles. It was the only doubles win for the Coyotes in the match. She then easily won 6-1, 6-0 in singles. On Saturday, the Coyotes opened KCAC play with an 8-1 win over McPherson, Prather teamed up with Vallerie Zuaznabar in doubles to easily win 8-0.
After starting the season 1-4, the Coyotes have won four straight to improve to 5-4 overall, and are 1-0 in the KCAC after the win over McPherson. Wesleyan takes on Tabor today in Hillsboro, then is at Lindsborg on Thursday taking on both Oklahoma Wesleyan and Bethany.
