Kansas Wesleyan's run to the KCAC Championship will have to wait just one more day. Winter Storm "Rocky" has forced KCAC officials to postpone Championship Monday to Tuesday night at Hartman Arena in Park City.
The evening's festivities will remain on the same time schedule with the men's game between Sterling and McPherson to be played at 6 p.m., followed by the women's contest between Wesleyan and Southwestern at around 8 p.m.
Kansas Wesleyan advanced to its second KCAC Championship in the last three years with a 66-49 upset win over No. 24 ranked and KCAC No. 1 seed Friends University on Saturday night in Wichita, less than 24 hours after beating fifth seeded Sterling 76-65 on Friday night in Salina.
This is the second appearance for the Coyotes in the KCAC's Championship Monday (now Tuesday) event, as the Coyotes played in the inaugural Championship Monday contest in 2011 at Hartman Arena where they beat Sterling 74-59 for their 30th win of the season on the way to finishing the year 31-3 overall.
Wesleyan and Southwestern split their meetings during the regular season. Southwestern beat the Coyotes 85-56 on December 1 in Winfield and Wesleyan defeated the 'Builders 70-64 on January 24 at Mabee Arena.
The winner of Tuesday night's KCAC Championship will receive the first of two automatic berths from the conference to the 22nd Annual State Farm-NAIA Division II Women's Basketball National Championships at the Tyson Events Center in Sioux City, Iowa, beginning March 6. Friends will receive the second automatic berth by being the highest remaining seed in the KCAC Tournament, regardless of their finish in the tournament.
