HUTCHINSON – The Kansas Wesleyan women's golf team won its final tournament of the fall season and Rob Carlson paced the men's finishers as the Coyotes competed in the Sterling Warrior Invitational at Carey Park Golf Course in Hutchinson on Monday and Tuesday.
On the women's side the Coyotes won the team title against Colby CC by almost 100 strokes. Colby was the only other team of the four in the tournament to score as a team. Kamie Rash posted her first individual win, posting back-to-back 81s to win the event over teammate Chelsie Gausman, who finished second with a 168. Alia Neubrandt was sixth with a 191, Shelby Schrag was eighth with a 204, Brittany Causey was ninth with a 206 and Monika Grant was 15th with a 244.
The men did not score as a team as only three golfers competed in the event. Rob Carlson finished tied for second place with a 145, equaling the score of John Brown's Sam Greenleaf. Joel Weiss was tied for 13th with a 155 and Tyler Clark finished tied for 20th with a 161.
The Coyote men have one more fall tournament, the Bethany Swede Fall Invitational on Monday in Salina before putting the clubs away until the spring season tees off in March.
