McPHERSON – The Kansas Wesleyan Women's Soccer team opened the KCAC portion of its schedule with a 3-0 win over McPherson College on Wednesday night at McPherson Stadium. The win ran Wesleyan's KCAC regular season unbeaten streak to 11 matches, as they have gone 10-0-1 over that span.
Wesleyan outshot the Bulldogs 40-15 in the match, led by six from Roxy Gomez and five from Evelyn De La Rosa. Emily Tielrooy recorded her second straight shutout as Wesleyan blanked their third consecutive opponent.
Gomez converted Wesleyan's first goal on a penalty after Kelsey Garrison was given a red card for a foul in the box. The Coyotes struck again right before the half De La Rosa's first goal of the match.
De La Rosa struck again in the 77th minute to put the Coyotes ahead 3-0. The final goal came off a set piece for the Coyotes when Sabrina Munoz sent in a corner kick that was initially headed by Megan Bodiford but was deflected by McPherson keeper Molly Whitwell. De La Rosa was there to put the ball away for the easy score.
The win improves Wesleyan's overall record to 9-1 as the Coyotes head to Wichita on Friday night to take on Friends University at Adair-Austin Stadium.
